James Jackson Obituary

James "Jim" Wesley Jackson

Aug 18, 1952 - Jan 9, 2026

On January 9, 2026, Jim Jackson went to be with Jesus. While we are saddened by his passing, we rejoice knowing he is no longer in pain and is in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Deane Jackson; his mother, Ollie Dean Jackson; and his father, Wesley Pearson Jackson.

He is survived by his loving wife of two years, Suzanne Jackson; his daughter, Laura Wilson and husband Dusty, and their children Abby, Maddie, and Andrew; his son, Jay Jackson and wife Karen, and their children Evie and Wes; his sister, Gloria Rinker, and her husband Mike Rinker; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

James Wesley Jackson was born in Ennis, Texas. He attended Ennis High School, excelling in band and choir, and graduated in 1970. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972–1981, including as Drum Major of the 761st Air Force Band and the Air Force Academy Band.

Jim was active in church music and ministry throughout his life, serving Baptist churches in Killeen, Waco, Uvalde, Corsicana, Pasadena, and Bryan. He was a long-time member of the Singing Men of South Texas and the Broadman Singers.

He loved teaching Sunday School, recording audiobooks, visiting grandchildren, traveling, attending Aggie games, and sharing his faith with everyone he met. Jim left a legacy of love, laughter, and faithful service.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., with the service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, at First Baptist Church Bryan, 3100 Cambridge Drive, Bryan. In Jim's memory, donations may be made in appreciation of A Closer Walk Life Group and the Singing Men of South Texas.

Enjoyed you at First Baptist. Still remember the day we met you and Deane at the Lackey´s home. You were coming to lead the Senior Adult Ministry.

Thank you Jim for being such a kind friend to my parents, Wayne and Estelle Morgan through their fellowship with you at First Baptist and the senior group. You were such a treasure and will be missed so much. Love and prayers to your family.
