James “Jim” Desmond Janeway, 68, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home.

Jim was born on May 25, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas. At the age of five, he was lovingly chosen and adopted by Desmond Charles and Ruth (Mitchell) Janeway, who became his devoted mother and daddy. Jim was deeply blessed to have been chosen and loved as their son.

He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1975 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree.

Jim began his warehouse career at Safeway, where he managed the same role with dedication and pride throughout his working years. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to doing things right.

Jim and Angela shared a life together beginning in 2009 and were married on September 19, 2014, in Van Buren, Arkansas. Together they spent sixteen loving years side by side. They were not only bonded by love, but also by their shared love of sports.

Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eufaula and later attended Edmond Church of Christ. He enjoyed watching sports, especially OU football and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and treasured time spent with his family—particularly his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife, Angela Janeway of the home; his children, Kathy Spruill, Julianne (Jon) Annesley, Stacie Eason, Ashley (Brandon) Meeks, and Bradley Jordan; his sister, Kathy Freeman; ten grandchildren, who were the joy of his life: Hunter Spruill, Brylee Northcutt, Aubree Northcutt, Brodie Meeks, Austin Meeks, Braxton Jordan, Jackson Meeks, Trevor Jordan, Ellie Mae Jordan, and Emery Meeks; nephew Michael Freeman, niece Melissa McConnell; great nephews Jace Freeman and Christian McConnell; and great nieces Haylee Boyle, Madison Blackwell, and Sydney McConnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Desmond Charles Janeway and Ruth (Mitchell) Janeway.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Michelle McCarty officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Swadley, Greg Willmon, Wayne Brewer, Bradley Jordan, Steven Oakes, and Bobby Venables. Honorary pallbearers will be R.L. Simpson, Jon Annesley, Jerry Floyd, and John Misialek.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home and Crematory.
