Dr. James Harris Jennings, age 91, of Clovis, NM, passed peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 4:00-6:00 pm at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton Street. Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 9:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 921 N. Merriwether Street. Burial to follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E. Llano Estacado. Christopher Truillo, Jake Trujillo, James Jennings III, Nicholas Vondrak, Jr. Brad Hansen, and Jack Lapp will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Fite, Bob Hayter, Eddie Martinez, and Richard May.

Dr. Jennings was born on October 14, 1934, to John Edmond Jennings and Rozella Engelbretson Jennings in Wyota Township, Wisconsin. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from February 2, 1954, to January 20, 1957. Dr. Jennings married Judith on July 7, 1962, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They have been partners in life for 64 years. Dr. J specialized in Orthodontics. He practiced in Clovis and the surrounding area for 33 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He was on the Airport Board, as well.

Doc was an avid pilot. He loved the Green Bay Packers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers football teams. He was beloved by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; daughter Julie (Felix) of Kingwood, TX; son James Jennings II (Julie) of Erie, CO; one sister, Mary Ann Pollock of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Richard Jennings (Karen) of Prescott, AZ. He is survived by 2 great-grandchildren and 6 grandchildren, as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Jennings, and one sister, June Bauer.
