James Jerman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Medina Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Dec. 9, 2025.
Jim E. Jerman, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Known to many as Jim, Stick, Paw and The Bubblegum Man.
Jim was born on January 28, 1953, in Alamo to the late Richard and Margaret Jerman. He enjoyed hunting, cherished the snow, and loved all sports-especially anything connected to Crockett County Athletics. He served on the Crockett County High School Football Chain Gang for over forty years. Jim was a familiar presence in the community, known for handing out bubblegum to everyone he met. Throughout his life, Jim served his community in many roles: as a teacher and coach, county mayor, through his work with the West Tennessee River Basin Authority, and as a dedicated farmer. He was an active and devoted member of Alamo First Christian Church, where he served as both a leader and a friend to many. Above all, Jim found his greatest joy in his relationship with Jesus, in sharing the gospel, and in spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Dickie Jerman.
Jim was married to Robin Jerman for almost forty years, and together they built a family that remained the center and joy of his life. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Kate Gourley (Ryan) of Alamo, Tennessee and Jamie Wirwa (Drew) of Hartselle, Alabama; five grandchildren, Kate, Avery, Ruth, Allie and Eli; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life and a time of fellowship to follow will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Alamo First Christian Church with Doug Wede officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alamo First Christian Church or Crockett County High School Athletics in honor of Jim.
