James "Jim" Michael Dunham was born on November 30, 1963, in Muncie, Indiana, to Richard and Carolyn Dunham. He was the third of five children, and by the time he was in junior high, he gained a stepdad and five step-siblings, expanding the family he loved so much.

From a young age, Jim had a deep love for all sports. In high school, he focused on basketball and baseball, and during his senior year, the Burris baseball team advanced to the state semifinals, with Jim playing third base and pitching. He went on to attend Ball State University, where he continued playing baseball and earned a degree in criminology.

After graduation, Jim joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country and traveling the world. On December 15, 1990, he married his high school sweetheart, Christy Schurr. The two spent a short time in California before settling back in Indiana, where they built a wonderful life together and raised four sons.

Jim was an avid golfer and a loyal fan of the Colts, the Pacers, IU football, and Butler basketball-one of the schools he followed most closely. He especially loved coaching kids, both his own and others, finding joy in helping them grow on and off the field.

Jim was funny, compassionate, and deeply caring. He cherished time with his family and especially loved being "Pop Pop" to his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Christy; his sons, Kellen (McKenzie) and their children, Jay and Addie; Kenton, Cole, and Jamison. He is also survived by many siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jim was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held in early November. Please check back here for updated service information.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to your local youth basketball program in Jim's memory.
