James “Jim” Ray Speer, 91, of Charlottesville passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence. He was born December 5, 1932 in Jennings County the son of Everett and Helen (Manlief) Speer. 

A graduate of Charlottesville High School, Jim was a member of Nameless Creek Christian Church since his early youth. He was a member of the Charlottesville Lions Club, Knightstown Masonic Lodge and was part of the Friendly Farmers Group. He enjoyed motorsports, Indiana Pacers, fishing, backyard wildlife and loved his pets. Jim found joy in entertaining family and friends and was known for his Margaritas. He was a farmer for many years, was the co-owner of Greenfield Farm Center and also worked in sales at Boylen Golf Carts. He was a jack of all trades. He constructed his own house and pond. Jim was very devoted to his wife and was an exceptional caregiver to her. 

Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Darlene Dellinger; two sons, John (Bonnie) Speer and Brent (Kim) Speer; grandchildren, Carrie Ferree, Julie Maxwell, Kevin (Sarah) Livingston, Tyler (Kelsey) Speer, Erica (Nathan) Shipley, Bradley (Bailey) Speer, Collier Speer and Wesley Speer; great grandchildren, Jessup (Tabetha), Emma (Dakota), Collin, Lucille, David, Kelly, Ansley and Wyatt; brother, Jeffery (Rodella) Speer and sister-in-law, Roberta Speer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carolee Speer; sons-in-law, David Livingston and Allen Dellinger; brother, Jack Speer and John K. Speer; and sister, Judy Powers. 

A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Linda Trowbridge officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Nameless Creek Christian Church, 3856 N 800 E, Greenfield, IN 46140.
