James "Jim" Johnson, 65, passed away on October 21st, 2023, at his home surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 12th, 1958, to the late Robert and Ellen (Taylor) Johnson in Frostburg MD.
Jim is remembered in love. We proudly celebrate the life of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. As we do so we will remember that his greatest pride was his beautiful marriage to his wife of 45 years, Brenda. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than his children and grandchildren. While Jim was not a man of many words, his actions spoke for themselves. He was always putting others before himself, and he lived his life to bring happiness to his family and friends.
Jim was a 1976 graduate of Beall High School and a 40-year employee at Frostburg State University from which he retired in 2018. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and especially his annual fishing trips to Chesapeake Bay. He prided his hard work as a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning First Grade Engineer. Jim was no stranger to having a good time. Over the years he developed long lasting relationships and cherished the memories that were created, especially around the set-back table. He looked forward to his visits to North Dakota and quickly became the famous "sentinel" at the Twilight Equine ranch. His legacy will live on in those he touched throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Brenda (Farrell) Johnson; his children, Jaime Johnson (Ridgeley, WV), Senior Master Sergeant James and his wife Lindsey Johnson (South Prairie, ND); grandchildren, Taylar Beasom, Lacey "Bug" Beasom, and Olivia, Ethan, Avery, and Elias Johnson; siblings, Debbie Laslo (Ridgeley, WV), Ronnie and wife Evelyn Johnson (Eckhart, MD), Marcia Dean and husband Alvin (Martinez, GA), Donna Jenkins and husband Gary (Frederick, MD), and Denise Murray (Wellersburg, PA); brother in-law, Tom Farrell and wife Kim (Mt. Savage, MD); sister in-law, Linda Snyder and her husband Donnie (Frostburg, MD), Deann Stein (Leesburg, VA); mother in-law, Shelby Ritchie (Finzel, MD); numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg, MD on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. A memorial service will follow at 3 P.M. with Peg Marshall as Celebrant.
