Ronald Glenn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. - Cresaptown on Feb. 6, 2026.
Ronald (Ron) L. Glenn, Sr., 77, of LaVale, MD passed away peacefully in his sleep and into the presence of his Lord on February 3, 2026.

To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Ron was born November 3, 1948, in Frostburg, MD to the late Samuel and Anna Glenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Glenn, Maxine Branson, Samuel L. Glenn, John Glenn, and Margaret Glenn. He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Louis and Pat Winter, and brother-in-law, Mike Winter.

Ron was raised in Cumberland, MD and graduated from Allegany High School, class of 1966. He worked a variety of jobs before beginning his career with the Celanese Corporation and later with the local Verizon phone company as a master maintenance mechanic, retiring in 2015.

Ron devoted his life to caring for his family. He was a model of strong work ethic, service to others, and faith in Christ. He loved his family deeply and took his role as leader seriously. He also had a playful personality, often enjoying a little good-natured teasing as his way of showing affection to his loved ones. Ron enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman most of his life, teaching those same skills to his children. He loved family camping trips. He even "enjoyed" mowing the grass, chopping wood, and plowing snow.

Ron had a servant's heart and was always willing to step in and help. He was a handyman by nature and could fix just about anything. He was a former president of the LaVale Athletic Association, he also coached his son's Little League baseball and church youth basketball teams.

Ron was a life-long member of LaVale Baptist Church. He sang in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, Royal Ambassadors leader, and as a Trustee helping to maintain the building, which he considered to be his personal ministry in serving the Lord.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia (Winter) Glenn; his sons, Ronald Glenn Jr. (fiancé Shana); Russell Glenn (wife Corinne); Ryan Glenn (wife Katelynn); daughter Robyn Glenn. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Savannah, Cameron, Madison, Maddox, Britton, Cecelia, Samuel, Charles, Ezekiel, Benjamin, and honorary grandchild Emma Miller; brother, Robert Glenn (Anne); twin sister, Bonnie Ziler; brother-in-law, Dan Winter (Kem); sisters-in-law, Christine Sheetz (Rick), Luann Huston (Ralph), and Virginia Winter; his best friends, Jim and Sandy Winters; a large extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins; his church family at LaVale Baptist Church; and many other friends.

Visitation will be Friday, February 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.

The family requests those wishing to make memorial contributions to direct them to LaVale Baptist Church at (https://www.lavalebaptist.com/ - "Give") or by mail 1115 National Hwy, LaVale, MD 21502

The family would also like to thank the staff at Mountain City Rehab Center in Frostburg, MD for their compassionate care of Ron.
