Stephen Anthony Scott

Stephen Anthony Scott, 56, of Bowling Green, Cumberland, MD passed away February 16, 2026 with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born February 28, 1969 in Cumberland he was the son of Patricia E. (Niner) Scott and the late Douglas James Scott. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilda Yo (Malloy) and Walter Scott, and Birtie (Martz) and George T. Niner; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Stephen graduated from Allegany High School and the Career Center in 1987; and went on to graduate with a culinary associate's degree from Allegany College. He worked at various restaurants in Cumberland and Ocean City, MD.

He loved practicing karate and achieved black belt status, traveling to Ireland, and his time living at the beach.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Gregory M. Scott; his large extended family including many cousins; his many friends; and his dog, Bear.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 22 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD, a rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m..

Visitation will continue at the funeral home Monday, February 23 from 11:00 a.m. to Noon; a funeral service will begin at Noon celebrated by Deacon Ryan Schmeltzer.

Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Cumberland, MD.
