CRESAPTOWN – Shirley Jean Robinson, age 93, passed away on January 31, 2026 at UPMC of Western Maryland. Prior to the hospitalization, she resided in her home in Cresaptown, where she had been a lifelong resident.

Shirley was born on August 16, 1932, to the late Lee H. Chaney, Sr. and Margaret (White) Chaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Chaney, Jr. and his wife, Mary Chaney, and son-in-law, Richard Cassell.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard E. Robinson. They were married on December 30, 1955 at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church. They had just celebrated their seventieth anniversary.

She is also survived by her four children; Cynthia Cassell, Wayne Robinson and significant other, Tammy, Carla Marino and husband, Richard, and Alan Robinson; grandchildren, Megan (Jorge), Sarah (Jordan), Ryan (Danielle), Nick, Erin, Chris, Heather, Katie, and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Alex, Angel, Aaliyah, Kaden, Kamden, Jalen, Reagan, Nora, and Levi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley was raised going to the Cresaptown United Methodist Church. For many years, she was the pianist for the church. She was also the president of the Cresaptown Homemakers. She really enjoyed getting together with the ladies.

She was definitely devoted to her family. Growing up, we couldn't have asked for a better mother. She enjoyed having family and friends gather for cook-outs and holiday dinners. She especially enjoyed all of the vacations with the kids to Myrtle Beach and Florida. When our parents retired, they traveled throughout the United States! She would say, "Travel while you still can!!"

The family will receive friends at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown, on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow with Reverend Harold McClay, Jr. and Reverend Patrick Buhrman officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, 16864 National Pike, Frostburg, MD 21532.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped our mother at UPMC Western Maryland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cresaptown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5206, Cresaptown, MD 21505, in Shirley's name.
