James Leroy Johnston was born on January 18, 1952 to James Dalton and Waynie Guice Johnston. Leroy, age 73, of Columbia, Louisiana, died Monday, January 27, 2025 at LSU Memorial Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He worked over thirty years for what was then known as Willamette Industries.
He is survived by wife of fifty-four years, Gayle Gallien Johnston; two daughters, Teresa Johnston Miller and husband Gary Miller, and Katie Johnston Tanner and husband Stephen Tanner; one son, Travis Johnston and wife Elizabeth Hampton Johnston. He is survived by his four grandsons, Jonathan Miller and wife Morgan Rachal Miller, Chase Johnston, Adam Miller, and Caleb Johnston; two granddaughters, Mackenzie Tanner and Emily Miller; and one great-granddaughter, Marlee Miller. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Johnston; one sister, Jo Ann Johnston Williams and husband Terry Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be his four grandsons, Jonathan Miller, Chase Johnston, Adam Miller, and Caleb Johnston, and his two adopted grandsons, Jeremy Miller and Jessie Greer.
