James Joynt Obituary
James "Jim" Joynt, of Warminster, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on February 20, 2025, at the age of 75. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Elaine Mary Joynt (Kitchenman), four daughters: Laurie Anne Sharp (Sean), Amy Keesler (James), Beth Anne Porinni (Robert Thomas), Erin Mary Randis (Kevin) as well as 8 grandchildren.
Born in Philadelphia, on September 16th, 1949 to Charles and Mary Joynt (deceased), James was the youngest sibling in his family where he shared a house with his sisters Lillian and Mary Agnes (deceased) and brother, Charles (deceased). As the youngest, he enjoyed some latitude from his parents as his shenanigans as a boy were among some of his prized legendary tales. James attended St. Timothy's, in Philadelphia, for elementary school and both Father Judge and Abraham Lincoln for High School. As a young man, James had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing many years of baseball at Vogt playground and football throughout his school years.
While in his High School years, he met his future wife, Elaine. The high school sweethearts were married in November 1969 and shared 55 years of good times and bad. Always supporting and caring for each other, they were role models to all of what marriage looks like. Early in their marriage and through the course of time, they enjoyed many trips together abroad, Longport, Wildwood, Key West and the Poconos. James's trips were among some of his most favorite stories to share with others. Adventures included fishing, snorkeling, para sailing, skiing and bar hopping were always on the itinerary.
In 1968, James entered apprentice school to become a union carpenter. After 4 years of schooling, he proudly became a full fledge member of Carpenter's Union 1856. It is there that James made many lifelong friends that he considered to be family. It would not be odd to see James in his 1856 Softball uniform during week by the old Nabisco factory fields. James also actively participated in the Carpenter's Political action committee. He was very proud to be a Carpenter. After his retirement, he drove for Bux-Mont Transportation, where he shared many interesting narratives of taking kids to school.
James was blessed with 4 daughters that kept him on his toes and busier than ever. Often you would find James in his truck driving to dance recitals, field hockey games, swim meets or choir concerts, always supporting his "GIRLS". He was the original "GIRL DAD" always encouraging his daughters to chase their passions and never, ever take "no" as an answer.
As the years passed, James's family grew with the addition of son in laws. These son in laws were welcomed into the family and quickly initiated into James's yearly hunting trips to Tioga County with his friends. James's yearly hunting respite was something he cherished and looked forward to each year. James's family continued to expand with the addition of 8 grandchildren. Each grandchild provided James with the opportunity to continue to stay busy and active. He enjoyed many trips with his grandchildren, football games, plays, communions, fundraisers, camp outs, graduations and especially many dinners out!
James liked to stay busy and involved as noted by his many affiliations. Early in life, he was a lifetime member of the Holmesburg Fish and Gun Club and the Roslyn Darts leagues. Later in life, he was a 4th degree member of the Knight of Columbus Flaherty Council 3128 and Ancient Order of Hibernians out of Glenside. It was through these organizations that Dad gave back to others by volunteering his time and talents to many worthy causes as a chef, honor guard and skilled carpenter!
In recent years, James's health declined and he slowed a bit. However, he still was the life of the party and the center of attention, with a glint in his eye, sharing his tall tales and wisdom right up to the end.
James's legacy is one of dedication, love and a life well-lived. He was a man who showed his love by his actions. James was always ready to help or give advice when asked. He would go out of his way to help anyone, especially his family. James will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
