James A. "Jamie" Kern

James Allen Kern, known by all as "Jamie" and by his nieces and nephews as "Coco," age 50 of Macomb Township, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly in the evening hours of August 21, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1975 in Warren, MI to John A. Kern and the late Joanne (Schaefer) Typinski. He was the beloved husband of Lauren A. Kern; they were together for 18 cherished years.

Jamie was a dedicated and hard-working man. He worked in the manufacturing industry for many years. He had a love for his wife and kids that was like no other. He could be described as "one of the good ones" as his devotion and support to his family shined every day and gave so much inspiration to all. Jamie was a man of many interests such as camping with his family, hunting up north at his father's property, riding his Harley, woodworking, strumming the guitar and so much more. From an endless supply of cheesy dad jokes, his love for superheroes to watching cartoons and collecting Hot Wheels, he was never afraid to bring out his inner child. That made him relatable and easy to love and laugh with.

Jamie will be deeply missed by his family, including his beloved wife Lauren, his two daughters Alyssa and Leah Ward, father John (Lilia) Kern, siblings Jill Kern, Justin (Angie) Kern, Johnna (Dontez) Jones, and Anita Kern, father and mother-in-law Bill and Faye Mize, along with a host of many nieces, nephews, great nephews, siblings-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more. He was a true friend to many and loved by all.

He is preceded in death by his mother Joanne Typinski and his stepfather Jim Typinski.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mt. Clemens. A memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A celebration of Jamie's life will begin at 2:00. In memory of Jamie, the family requests in his name to perform a random act of kindness for someone else.
