Our deepest sympathy to the Kilkelly family. Not seeing Jim there at daily Mass every morning, sitting right there behind us and greeting us with a smile as we come in before the rosary, will be very hard to get used to. He has been a wonderful example to all of us.

Dear John;
I worked with you many years ago at RMS; I just wanted to say I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you grieve.

My cousins, growing up with you like brothers and sisters, I share in your grief about the loss of Uncle Jim, the one who played a father role in our lives growing up. Memories race through my head of times spent with him, even when I was young in New York and he came to visit when on business trips. I remember him setting off the fireworks in your backyard on Colorado Avenue for the 4th. Remember the Saturday night special trips when he took us to McDonalds for eating out? The rides out to grandmas where he took us down to the old engine and the clayhole. His taking us on as sons and teaching us discipline, fair play, how to play ball and skate. He took us to Met Stadium to see some of the greatest ball players of all time like Mantle, McClain, and of course our famous Twins. He was a big part of helping Wolf and me become who we are.
In the last 15 years, through my work at the U, I have come to know the work side of him through my association with alumni who worked with him at Donaldson, and to a man, they all shared how much they enjoyed working with him and how much they respected him as a colleague.
When Pat told me about his illness and how he took it, I said, that sounds like Uncle Jim. He didn't make a big deal about it. He took it like a man and dealt with it. Something he did his entire life and a value he inspired in us as kids. He taught us to be strong. He taught us to get back up from a fight and get back into the ring. He taught us to play hard and give your best. And that is what he did during the last few months.
While I mourn and weep with you, I also find joy in knowing that he isn't in any more pain, and that he is with his bride, who left him and you too much early in life. I also know that Jesus is happy to have him up there to join them all.
You were wonderful to provide him a great 80th birthday celebration last summer so he could soak in all of his life, family and friends when he was at the top of his game.
So Ruth, Erik, Matt and I send our heartfelt love to all of you as we mourn his loss and yes, celebrate a man for a life well lived.
Love, Chris
