USAF Retired MSgt James T. King, age 88, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Biloxi, MS.
Mr. King was born in Anniston, AL, and had lived in Biloxi since January of 1969, which he considered home. He loved the MS Gulf Coast and enjoyed his many hours of boating and fishing in the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. King retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 24 years of military service. After retirement he continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from The University of Southern Mississippi. After graduation, he started work with the civil service at the Keesler AFB in The Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) and retired as Branch Chief.
Mr. King was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 45 years; a member of the Krewe of Gemini since 1988 and served as Treasurer for over 13 years; a member of The American Legion Post 119; a life member of The Disable American Veterans (DAV) R.W. Veal Chapter #5; and a member of Biloxi Elks, Lodge 606.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.S. King of Anniston, AL; his wife, Doris King of Biloxi; son, James (Jimmy) King, Jr. of Biloxi; and brother, Charles King of Anniston, AL.
Mr. King is survived by his children, Debra Glidewell of Biloxi and Cathy King of Austin, TX; brothers, Robert (Nancy) of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Lawrence King (Sofia Nuccio) of Sana Monica, CA, and Edward King of Park City, UT; grandson, Carter King Penwell of Austin TX; granddaughter, Kendal Anne Montgomery of Austin, Tx; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Krewe of Gemini or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Bradford-O Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
