Freida Faye Mclendon

Freida Faye McLendon, 86, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on February 6, 2026. Born on January 13, 1940, Freida lived a life rooted in kindness, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elry and Ruth McLendon; her brothers, Raymond and Roy; her sisters, Hilma and Caroline; and her great-grandson Colin.

Freida is survived by her loving children, Pamela A. Tyson, Sherry F. Tyson, Renee Bodin, and Glenn (Kay) Tyson. She was a proud grandmother to Jason Wajda, Jesse Deshields, Brandy Gunter, Matt Bodin, Clint Bodin, Kacey Merck, Alicia Merck, and Whitney Tyson. She was also blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers, Wallace McLendon, Norman McLendon, and Cliff McLendon.

Freida worked as a hairdresser for many years, forming lasting friendships with clients who appreciated not only her skill but also her warm and gentle spirit. She was a loving mother and grandmother whose family was the center of her world. She found great joy in tending to her plants and watching her flowers come to life. She loved animals and always had one faithfully by her side. A lover of simple pleasures, Frieda lived a life focused on kindness, family, and thoughtful, quiet contemplation. Freida had a gentle soul and a quiet demeanor that brought comfort to those around her. Her calm presence and loving heart left a lasting and peaceful impact. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
