James King, "Kinger", 63 of Flat Rock, passed unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on February 7, 2025, at his home. Jim graduated from Gladstone High School and furthered his education at Northern Michigan University.
Jim was enjoying his recent retirement from Marinette Marine. He absolutely loved spending time in the woods and had a passion for deer hunting and was a master gardener. He loved to be in the garden with his little helpers, Emmit and Harper. Anyone who knew Jim knew that his daughter, Christina was the pride and joy of his life, whom he provided all the love and support a father could ever possibly offer. Jim often said that being her father was his greatest accomplishment. Jim adored his son-in-law, Dan Caron. Jim very much approved of his addition to the family and knew his little girl would be taken care of. Jim often told his daughter he was a blessed man and that he loved his life. He truly was content with the simple things.
Kinger's garage, where he spent most of his time was a haven of laughter, jokes, and lots of beer. The memories created within its walls will forever be cherished, especially by his friend and longtime neighbor, Zack. They shared a special bond, and Kinger loved his children as if they were his own. He had a huge heart for all his visitors and fur buddies and made sure to have treats for all.
Friends since childhood, Bruce Deno and Rod Couillard will greatly miss his companionship and crazy adventures.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard King and Mary Hoffmann and a great nephew, Hudson Cowboy King.
Jim leaves behind his beloved daughter, Christina, and son-in-law Dan Caron, grandson, Travis, brothers, Dale King (Geri), Kevin King (Pam), nieces and nephews, Shannon, Jason, Kent, Brooke, Nick, Karsyn, Kristen, Camden, Colson, Marci, and Barrett. Special and longtime friend, Rita Luft, friend and ex-wife, Linda King, and his beloved neighbors, Zack, Jess, Emmit and Harper.
Jim's unexpected departure leaves a void that can never be filled. May you all cherish his wild and beautiful memories. Please join us to celebrate his life on Thursday, February 13th. Visitation is from 3-5 at Skradski's Funeral Home in Gladstone.
