James Edward Kinnard, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025 in Harker Heights, Texas. Born on September 25, 1949 in Dublin, Mississippi, James lived a life that was all about service to his country and love and dedication to his family. James was the cherished son of Lugene and May Ella Kinnard. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mal S Kinnard and his legacy continues through his three sons: Maurice D Kinnard, Michael E Kinnard and Kevin J Kinnard. He was a proud grandfather to Kyla Kinnard, Elijah Kinnard, Ilia Kinnard, Kamille Kinnard, Miykh Kinnard and Peyton Kinnard. James graduated from DuSable High School in Chicago, Illinois. After he graduated, he joined the US Air Force on June 9, 1969, and served until June 30, 1994, when he retired. While serving a tour in Korea, he met and fell in love with Mal Sun Um. They were married on May 24, 1977. While serving in the military, he had his 3 sons. Nothing was more important to him than his family. In the later part of 1997, James became very ill. He would remain in this condition until the day he left this world. Even being ill did not stop him from being close to his family. He loved to spend time with his children and loved to spend time with his grandchildren even more. He will always be cherished for the man that he was. A man who showed what it means to be a family. A man who was always teaching. And a man who was never afraid to learn. He is a huge loss to the family and will be greatly missed. -Visitation will be held June 23, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home, 425 E. Central Tx Expy, Harker Heights, TX 76548. Graveside services will be held June 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
