James P. Kyle, 76 yrs., passed away on Sept. 11 2025 at Wesley Medical Center.
Born Oct. 30 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James & Wilma Kyle. Jim was raised in & around Wichita, KS. area. He graduated from South High School in Wichita, KS. in 1966. Upon graduating school he went to work for Richardson Typewriter. In Sept. 1969 Jim met Jeanne Spidle in Wichita, where she had moved from Garden Grove, Iowa to live with her sister. Shortly after they were married in Apr. 1970.They lived in Wichita, KS. & then moved to Perry, OK. to help manage the Western Auto Store that his parents owned.While living in Perry, OK. Jim & Jeanne welcomed two children, Timothy in 1973 & Dawn in 1974. In 1975 Jim and the family moved to Goddard, Ks. to start a new career with Guy’s Potato Chips. After Guy’s Potato Chips was sold, Jim went to work for Sta-Krisp Potato Chips. In 1979 Jim and the family moved to their forever home in Belle Plaine, KS. Jim held several more positions over the years but retired from Castle Metals in 2018. Jim had several passions throughout life. Drag Racing, where he had won several trophies; Fishing; Hunting; Building items with his own two hands. His biggest passion later in life was the Shriner’s where he enjoyed the many activities that came with the Mini Cycle group where he established many life long friendships.
Jim is preceded in death by his father James & mother Wilma (Parker) Kyle, grandparents Lloyd & Ruth Kyle, Roscoe & Nettie Parker.
Jim is survived by wife Jeanne Kyle, son Timothy (Sherry) of Haysville, KS., daughter Dawn Rader of Derby, KS. Grandchildren Tyler Rader (Allyson) of Winfield, KS., Kassandra Rader (Kalub) of Oswego, KS., Justin Kyle of Wichita, KS.,Aleigha Kyle of Wichita, KS. & Parker Kyle of Haysville, KS. & many nieces & nephews. Jim is survived by his sister Janet Pitts (Bruce) of Andover, KS. Jim also leaves behind his loyal & faithful canine Sage.
The funeral service will be on Thursday September 18, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Rd. Derby, KS. 67037. The viewing will be on Wednesday September 17, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Rd. Derby, KS. 67037.
