James Webster Langley

James Webster Langley, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at his home,
surrounded by his family. He was born in Greensboro, NC, on August 19, 1931, to the late Ual
Fletcher Langley and Lena Mae Langley.
Jim was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated
from Greensboro High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the
Korean War. Following his military service, he moved to Chattanooga, where he worked as a
deputy sheriff. He later relocated to Raleigh, where he began a long career with Addressograph
Multigraph Corporation.
Jim had a lifelong love for working on and racing cars and was an avid ham radio operator. He
was widely known as a man who could fix just about anything, with talents ranging from
electrical and mechanical work to carpentry. If you ever needed help, Jim would always be there
to lend a hand, no matter what time of day or night. Outgoing and friendly, Jim genuinely
enjoyed being around people. Often called "the candy man," he delighted in putting smiles on
faces by offering a Werther's candy. He also loved spending time at the coast and enjoyed
fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Langley; his sister, Martha Bailiff; his daughters, Deborah
(Allen) Weatherspoon, Cynthia Cannady, and Dawn Stange; his son, Donnie (Cheryl) Huckabee;
his grandchildren, Christy (Richard) Bowles, Stephanie (Robert) Simko, Nicole (Michael)
Adams, Noah (Cassie) Stange, and Joshua (Hannah) Stange; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney
and Adelynn Buchanan, Reese Adams, Allison and Emily Bowles, and Iris Lemmons.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Josephine Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, at Calvary Freewill
Baptist Church, officiated by Mike Benson, with burial to follow at Brier Creek Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the church
service.
