Virginia Beach - On December 14, 2025, at age 69 passed away in Norfolk, VA. Predeceased by his Father, Irvin LaPorte; Mother, Marilyn Cole-Burke; Sister, Donna Sandstrom. He is survived by his Wife of 46 years; Cindi LaPorte, his son; Michael (Chelsea) LaPorte; Siblings; Sharon (Bobby) Sullivan of MA., David (Kelley) LaPorte of SC., Spence (Marge) LaPorte of SC., Cindy (Dan) Slocum of MA., Dee Dee Gaudette of FL., Dan (Robbie) Beckwith of NY., Debbie (Mike) Sears of MA., Melissa (Chris) Greeno of MA. Jimmy was also remembered by his brothers (in law), Michael (Gail), Larry, Alan (Ada) Donaghue. He was a loving Grandfather of three; Cayden, Mason, and Madelyn LaPorte; and a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1975-1979. After serving with VA-113, and honorably discharged, he married his loving wife, Cindi. From their years in California, to their years in Bermuda, they settled in Virginia Beach. This is where one of the happiest days of his life occurred, his son Michael was born. He was a proud man that loved his craft with woodworking and cherished his time spent with those in the Premier Millwork family. He had a love for music, sports, and his family. He was so many things to so many people, connecting in ways that only they knew. His heart was full with the love and time he spent with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Emergency Department at Norfolk Sentara Leigh, the Flight crew of the emergency response helicopter, "Nightingale". A special appreciation to the Vascular Team at Sentara Norfolk General. Our Family is forever thankful for their efforts.
A Memorial Service will be held at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. A Time of Remembrance will be held at 1pm, and Service will begin at 2pm. A Celebration of Life to follow at C.P. Shuckers, 2407 Pacific Ave, Virginia Beach, VA.
