James Lasater Obituary

James Patrick Lasater

November 13, 1953 - February 7, 2026

Modesto, California - James Patrick Lasater was born on November 13, 1953 and passed away on February 7, 2026 due to pancreatic cancer.

Jim was born in Modesto to his mother and father, Dick and Mary Lasater. He is survived by his sisters Mary Anne Rockwell and Susan Conroy and many nieces and nephews. His 3 brothers, Jack, Tom, and Hank all predeceased him.

Like all the Lasater boys he excelled in sports at Modesto High, Class of 1971. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He went on to play football at Modesto Junior College. He was active in skiing at Kirkwood Meadows and Park City Utah. He loved to travel to San Felipe, Mexico.

Jim became a great cook and had a passion that led him to work in the restaurant business in both Utah and Modesto.

Later in life Jim continued to play baseball and became quite a golfer with his brother Tom.

As his illness progressed he got great care from Anna, Celeste, and Kim. It kept him going in his battle against cancer. He also received wonderful care from Suncrest Hospice of Stockton.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday April 26, 2026 at Twin Rivers Saloon, 7000 Maze Boulevard from 4 to 6 PM.

Jim was a great person and good friend of our family. Instrumental in bringing Jim Plunkett to our home to meet me and sign my poster of him after receiving an award at the SOS club. Many good memories while he was cooking at the "Vintage" night club as well. He will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him. My sincerest condolences to the Lasater family for their loss. Via Condios Jim. The John Cosentino family
