James "Tic" Laws Jr., of Destrehan, LA passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the age of 73. Born to James Boyd Laws Sr. & Merle (Pennington) Laws on September 14, 1951, in Bastrop, Louisiana, Tic was a man whose life was marked by kindness and thoughtfulness.
Tic graduated from Destrehan High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. His commitment to service was evident through his honorable tenure in the United States Air Force.
Following his military service, Tic had a fulfilling career with Delta Airlines and Heavenly. His love for the New Orleans Saints led him to work security at the SuperDome. He was very dedicated to his jobs and had a strong work ethic.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Diana Laws, and a loving brother to Roger Smith. His family was his pride and joy, including his nephew, Frank Smith, nieces; Stephanie DuBois and Susie Bourgeois, his cousin, Patti DuBois, and granddaughter, Kambria Wistsell. He is also survived by his lifelong friends; Wayne Vasseur, Chris Cristina, Martha Taylor, and Jan McGowan. Tic was preceded in death by his parents, Stephanie "Steevi", his brother, Ronnie Smith, and his dear friend, Tony Damiano.
An avid lover of Lake Tahoe, California, Tic found peace and solace in its beauty. His German Shepherds, Gretchen and Abby, were a source of unconditional love and companionship.
A celebration of life for Tic will be held on Saturday, May 17 starting at 2:00 PM at Uncle Joe's Tavern, 814 N Howard Ave, Metairie, LA 70003. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for all memorial donations to be sent to: American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org
