James E. Layton, 81 of Uniontown died on Monday December 29, 2025 in Mt. St. Macrina Manor, Uniontown. He was born on March 24, 1944 in Vanderbilt a son of the late James H. and Julia Loya Layton. Jim was a graduate of Connellsville High School. He was formerly employed at the US Steel Clairton Works and he retired from Uniontown Hospital. He was a member of the Dunbar Eagles and the Connellsville VFW and American Legion. He was an avid hunter and loved his Harley and his Corvette. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Layton and his wife Michelle of Connellsville, James S. Layton and his wife Amy of Uniontown and Robert Layton of Mount Pleasant; his grandchildren, Ryan Layton, Sarah Kemple and her husband Michael, Jonathan Layton, Zackery Layton and his fiancé Lauren Coffman and Shane Layton.; great-grandson, Evan Kemple; his brother, John Layton and his wife Sue of Connellsville and a sister-in-law, Peggy Layton of Vanderbilt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert E. Layton; a sister, Rosalind Quinn and his companion, Janet Phelan. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Sunday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Brian Swan officiating. Interment will follow in the Cochran Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mt. Macrina Manor for their care of Mr. Layton during his time there.
