On June 22, 2025, God called home James Albert Ledl, 76, of Lincoln Park, MI.
Born September 12, 1948 to Frank Ledl Sr. and Gladys Ledl (Gassman), James built an abundant and beautiful life with his wife and soulmate, Laura Ledl (Pilch) with whom he shared 54 passionate years. They have 4 loving daughters: Olivia Ledl, Sarah (Corey) Swan, Molly (Robert) Ledl, and Katie (Aaron) Gibson-Ledl. James' pride and joy were his 5 inspiring and cherished grandchildren: Sophia, Kane, Steven, Eloise, and Kenzie. James was a deeply beloved son, brother, husband, daddy, and papa.
James shared a spirited childhood and life with 6 siblings: Sandra, Frank, John, Jerry, Robert, and Richard. A friend to all, James will be missed dearly by many extended family members and countless buddies.
Strong in body, mind, and soul, James was a believer of God, honorable man, proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and patriot, and an everyday soldier who fought for country, loved ones, and the many battles of life. A devoted pet parent to Lila and Pete, James made room in his home for many of God's creatures in need of a loving home to heal. James was a self-taught mechanic, craftsman, creative, and resourceful collector who loved a good garage sale find. Energetic and always on-the-go, James embraced life as an adventurer - discovering treasures through curbside archaeology (garbage picking), repurposing furniture, or solving a hands-on problem. James could often be found tinkering in his backyard enjoying sun-brewed tea while jamming to 60s/70s rock, oldies, and Motown music or winding down with a book, favorite movie, or TV show in the evenings with his wife. As a skilled chef, James loved others through cooking for all with whom he shared a table. A skilled conversationalist and genuine person, James shared stories, lessons, and laughs with all who crossed his path. His door was always open to neighbors.
James showed up for his people, any time, any place. He was giving of his time, energy, skill, knowledge, moxie, spunk, and grit. His steadiness reminded us to live in the moment, work hard, play hard, and rest well. James enjoyed a life well-lived and fiercely-loved.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 1:00-8:00pm at Czopek Funeral Home located at 2157 Oak St.,
Wyandotte, MI 48192. Casual dress code.
A burial will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 10:00am at Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442, where James will be laid to rest with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, providing mortgage-free homes to veterans and first-responders in need, a cause close to James' heart.
We find peace in knowing James' spirit is resting serenely, his final tour of duty is done. We find comfort in carrying on his legacy through countless memories, stories, lessons, advice, and laughs.
