Alvin Lee 77, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Alvin was born on June 29, 1947 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late J.C. and Blanche Davis Lee.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Lee.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years, Betty Burris Lee; children, Jamie (Donna) Lee, and Angie (PeeWee) Neely; his granddaughters, Beth Lee, Christy (Steven) Haley, and Katie Neely; great grandchildren, Bryson Hullender, Rayna Hullender, Rayleigh Hullender, and Zane Lee Ross; his siblings, Max (Stephanie) Lee, and Carolyn (Dee) Roark; sister in laws, Mary Lee, Marilyn (Ray) Hindman, and Kathy (Mike) Bowman; and his brother in law, Ed (Pam) Burris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Poppa Alvin was a kind, loving, and joyful person who will be deeply missed. Heaven will be filled with laughter now that Alvin's there, a testament to his vibrant spirit.
Alvin was a Bus contractor for 52 years serving in both Bradley and Hamilton County. Due to his dedicated career he was inducted into the Tennessee Association of Pupil Transportation Hall of Fame in 2015. during his time in the work force he served on the Bradley County School Board, served in the Cleveland Police Reserves and UTC arena Security, and drove a semi for Angelica Trucking. Alvin was also a life time farmer.
Alvin was a faithful member of the Maple Grove Baptist Bethany Sunday School Class, Sanctuary Choir, and Bus Ministry. He served as a Deacon at Maple Grove Baptist and First Baptist Georgetown.
He enjoyed sharing what God had done in his life and he invited everyone he met to join him on the last Sunday in October to worship with him as he sang "How Great Thou Art."
The family wants to express their thanks to all who have prayed and cared for Alvin and his family throughout this past year of health struggles. Especially his church family at Maple Grove, Health care heroes at Kindred, Erlanger and Memorial Hospitals; the Healthcare facilities, Siskins, Signature, and Encompass; and family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital or Maple Grove Baptist Church Children's ministry.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Maple Grove Baptist Church from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
They will also receive friend on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Maple Grove Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Ronnie Dotson and Pastor Dan Dockery officiating. A graveside service is to follow at Hiwassee Memorial Gardens.
