James Zaoping Li, of Westwood, MA, passed away at home on May 7th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Lichuan Ye. Loving father to his son Justin Li and daughter Avery Li. Cherished son of Sanning Liu and Yuxiao Li.
James loved reading, sports, hiking, and cooking (the Head Chef at home!). James met his wife Lichuan when they both were freshmen in college in 1996, and they shared great memories since then. James was the fun dad in charge of adventures. James was the one leading his family walking on unknown trails, stepping in creeks, or rolling down from the top of a sand dune. James taught Justin and Avery swimming, biking, running in mud ignoring the complaints from their mom. In recent months James proudly supported Justin’s Lego robotics and happily cried while watching Avery’s rhythmic gymnastics competitions. James was a fighter. He fought with end-stage cancer for years. He stayed positive even during the most difficult times. James is a miracle and will be loved and remembered forever.
Friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Saturday afternoon May 13th from 12:30pm – 3pm.
