James H. Livezey, age 78 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Born in Woodbury, NJ, August 4, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Underwood) Livezey.
During his teenage years, he attended Sandy Spring Friends School, Sandy Spring, MD, a private boarding high school. He had lived in Deptford, NJ most of his life, but had also resided in Exton, PA, and Raritan Township, NJ since 2012.
He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era, serving primarily on the submarine USS Will Rogers from 1965-1971.
A commercial electrician by trade, he was formerly employed by EMD Chemical Company, Gibbstown, NJ.
James was a member of the Quakertown Friends Meeting, Quakertown, NJ; a decade long volunteer for the Black River & Western RR, Ringoes, NJ; and an avid Harley-Davidson and Corvette enthusiast. Most importantly however, he was an avid spectator of his step-grandchildren's Lambertville sports.
He will be remembered as the kindest and most genuine man his family had ever known.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Rosemary D'Allura; son Joseph Livezey, daughter Heather Livezey and grandson Tyler Livezey; step-daughter Johnelle Whipple and step-grandchildren Brendan and Julia Whipple; as well as his sister, Trish Willever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Quakertown Friends Meeting, P. O. Box 520, Quakertown, NJ 08868.
As is Quaker tradition, James will have a simple, private burial. Arrangements and cremation services are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Worked together at EMD Chemicals with Jim for many years in Gibbstow, NJ. Truly a caring and genuine all around nice person. He always amazed me with his ability to keep active with activities that he didn't seem to fit the mold for. When I recently heard of Jim's passing my first thought is that the world lost a truly nice person. Take care Jim.

During several or more years before Jim moved back to New Jersey he attended Centre Friends Meeting in Centerville, Delaware, where he participated in 1st day (Sunday) worship and community happenings. Among the twenty-five or so of us (we're a small Meeting with a very old Meetinghouse, heated with a wood stove) he was one of three who sometimes arrived on a motorcycle. As many of us do, Jim most often sat on a particular bench, settled in quickly, and spoke only rarely. His words were always appreciated. When he announced at the end of Meeting that he was moving to New Jersey, we wished him well, realizing that he would be missed. I wish we had gotten to know Jim better. I realized then that he was a highly centered person, with wisdom to share, and that he and I hadn't yet talked about his and my years in the Navy. In retrospect, I must have been thinking that he'd be with us at Centre for many years. At Centre Meeting, we are holding him in the light.
