James Demetrios Lolos

James Demetrios Lolos, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 at Lahey Hospital Medical Center.
Born on April 10, 1934, the son of Speros and Elaine (Rallis) Lolos, Jim was raised in the proud Greek community of Lowell, MA. He formed his many interests and love of learning at Lowell High School and later the Lowell Textile Institute (now UMass Lowell). There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in textile engineering, captained the basketball team, and joined the ROTC Air Force Program, eventually serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He began his career at Tennessee Eastman in Kingsport, Tennessee. In the later part of his life, he enjoyed a second career in sales.
A devout Orthodox Christian, Jim had a deep faith in God. He was a past President of Holy Trinity Church in Lowell and also served on the Board of Directors.
Famous for his youthful energy, Jim was an avid golfer and always the first to lead Greek dancing at family gatherings. His enthusiasm spanned from scripture and classic movies to sports and world history. He will be remembered for his unending warmth and wisdom, and his dedication to family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Emily (Svoleantopolous) with whom he enjoyed 66 years of marriage, and his two daughters Melanie McLoon and her husband Greg, and Elaine Taylor and her husband Paul. He was a loving Papou to his three grandchildren Kelly McLoon, Andrew McLoon, and Emma Taylor. He was predeceased by his sister Theodora L. Davis.
