James J. Lupinetti, age 82, of Millsboro, DE passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home.
Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 16, 1943 son of the late Joseph Lupinetti and Antoinette (Pilotti) Lupinetti. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Jim continued serving his community as a Philadelphia Police officer for 24 years. He graduated from the Philadelphia Police Academy in 1965 Class 174. He was promoted to detective in 1976 and 1980 to sergeant assigned to the Major Crimes Division. In 1984, he was assigned to the Police Commissioner's Office and retired in 1990. After moving to Delaware, he was the Director of Internal Affairs for the State of Delaware before retiring from the Department of Corrections. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the FOP. Jim was a devout Christian and a parishioner at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, DE. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, his love of travel, socializing and going out to eat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lupinetti. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elaine (DeMarco) Lupinetti and two cousins, Tina Palermo-Scafide and her husband, Tom Scafide and Kathy Webman.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 11 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966. The eulogy will begin at 11 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:15 AM. Interment will be private.
