James Warren Lutman

James Warren Lutman of Eagle, MI,

Passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on November 10, 1931, son of Robert and Christine (Penrod) Lutman. Jim proudly served in the US Army during the Korean war (1952-1954).

Jim was a graduate of Traverse City Central High School, and after graduation he went to work at General Motors where he retired after 43 years of hard work and dedication. Jim played softball for G.M and was known for his slow pitch and often umpired. He also enjoyed traveling with Alice, and square dancing.

Jim was a jack of all trades and being that he was proficient in all things such as woodworking, plumbing, welding, electrical issues, and car repair, the family relied on his great expertise and advice. He was truly one of the finest family men there was, installing love into all his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice (Berry) Lutman; children: Melody Lutman-Small, Ethel (Rob) Richard, Kevin Lutman, and Michael Lutman; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephew Larry Wright. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Christine Lutman; siblings: Luella, Jean, and Bob Lutman.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel in Grand Ledge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of James, to the Alzheimer's Association, Eaton Community Palliative Care, or the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel in Grand Ledge.
