I never knew James Mahone but somehow I now wish I had. Like Indiana Shepp, I may also be a long lost cousin if you can trace your Mahone family back to Williamsburg before the Civil War. There were three brothers James (sometimes called Able), Walter and Alexander. If there is a family historian for the family I would love to hear from them.

Sympathy to the Mahone family.
I imagine Abe's a distant cousin of mine, as I do family research.
My Grandpa was a Mahone, and I have the name, too. Maybe someone can respond and let me know the grandparents of Abe and as far back thru the Mahone family that you know. It would be nice to fill in the blanks of the Mahone research, and I will send copies if you like. (All Virginia Mahone folks, back to early 1800's)
Sincerely, Indiana Mahone Clark Shepp and family
