James Loren Mathews 7/19/1952 - 10/9/2025
James Mathews… our wonderful husband, father, son and brother joined our heavenly father on October 9th, 2025, at 12:40 am.
He passed peacefully and in the comfort of his home in the presence of his loving wife Lillian Mathews, and youngest daughter Madilyn McCleese.
He was loved by many and will leave a void in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother Jennie Mathews, his father Herbert Mathews, sister Barbara Nichols , his brother William Mathews (Dianne Mathews), and his brother-in-law (Larry Harding) and one grandson Daniel Lively-Payne He is survived by his wife Lillian Mathews, two sons James Mathews and Andrew Mathews and Andrew's fiancée (Erica Bradbury), daughters Christy Lively, Amanda Wiseman (Patrick Wiseman), Mary Lewis, Marie Lewis, and Madilyn McCleese. His grandchildren Isabelle Mathews, Andy Mathews, and their mother Katie Beth Moore. Erin Mathews, Elijah Mathews, David Williams, Julie Williams, Jeremiah Williams, Jared Williams, Leta Lively, Colton Harris, Whiskey Harris, Savannah Snodgrass and her fiancé Michael Sargent, Cameron Snodgrass, great-grandson: Waylon Sargent; and his sister, Nancy Mathews Harding. He was also survived by too many nieces and nephews to list.
Per his wishes his remains are to be cremated and there will be no viewing or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Hospice of Southern West Virginia who made his quality of life more enjoyable and comfortable in the end.
