James E. Mauldin, 76, of Centre Township, passed away July 21, 2025, at Reading Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Donna (Berger) Mauldin.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Jesse Mauldin and Violet (Nagle) Kunkelman.

He was a graduate of Reading High School.

Jim served our nation proudly and valiantly as a United States Marine.

Family and faith were most important to Jim; he was a member of the West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Jim's dedication to his role in the maintenance department at the Wilson School District is truly remarkable. Students affectionately referred to him as "School Dad" and "Band Dad," highlighting his consistent involvement in school activities, from leading the Band Aids to supporting stage crew for performances. The students recognized him as "the Real Deal," reflecting the authenticity and commitment he brought to his work. To the children, Jim represented genuine care and dedication, earning their deep respect and admiration. Following his retirement from Wilson, he worked as a valet at the Reading Hospital doctor's office building. He truly cared for the patients and staff that crossed his path.

I addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Janine, wife of Charles Busack and Lisa, wife of Christopher Davis; two sisters, Bonnie, widow of Paul Demkovic and Cindy, wife of Tom Minicozzi. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Kayla Busack, Evan Busack, Emily Davis, Joel Davis, and his "bonus" granddaughter Kimberly Manning. He is also survived by his loving fur babies, Dusty, Skippy and Charlee.

At Jim's request, services are private. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508 or Humane Pennsylvania Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving, 1801 N 11th St, Reading, PA 19604. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
