James A. McCarthy

James A. McCarthy, of Lyman, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on January 24, 2025. He was born on May 26, 1958, in Brunswick, Maine, to Udalric and Ruth (West) McCarthy.
Jim grew up in Brunswick, attended Brunswick schools, and graduated from Brunswick High School. He began his career in the food industry at Bonanza and later worked at Silver Street Tavern, Magic Pan in Boston, Prudential Insurance, and Maine Window and Sunrooms, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He eventually returned to his passion for food service, founding Delicious Thymes Personal Chef and Catering Services.
Jim enjoyed cooking, eating, hunting, fishing, camping, ice cream, BINGO, gambling, entertaining, and traveling. He treasured summers at camp on Sabattus Lake, Christmas scavenger hunts with his dad's notes for the "big gift," and Thanksgiving dinners with family. The highlight of Jim's year was fishing with a bunch of his buddies in the great northern Maine woods and hunting with his buddies in Rockwood in November.
He spent the last 31 years with his life partner, Sandie Lamb. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his son, Conner McCarthy. He is survived by Sandie Lamb of Lyman; his son Noah Lamb and fiancée Paige LaCoss of Arundel and her sons Weston and Brantley; grandchildren Izabella Lamb and Jaxson Lamb; his brother Joseph McCarthy and wife Kay; his sister Carol McKinney and husband Barney; and close friends Denis and Kim Parent, Mike Travers, Scott Haskell, Brittany Wezner, Leann Black, Lee and Bruce Falconer, Jon Norton, Howard Rawson, and Linda Treadway.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005, with a Funeral Outside of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Committal will take place at a later date.
