James Robert McCoy, 85, passed away March 8, 2025, in Sunrise Florida. He was born in Topeka Kansas, November 5, 1939. Jim was best known for his love of children, computers and engaging in conversations on any topic. Jim was a proud Navy man and had served on the USS Los Angeles, as a Guided Missile technician. When his Navy service was completed, Jim worked for American Aviation where he was responsible for reviewing and approving building plans for the Apolo mission. Jim soon went to work for Electronic Associates Incorporated (EAI), servicing large Analog computers. Computer installations at Edwards Air Force Base, China Lake Naval Weapons center, Dow Chemical Company (Midland MI) and New York City were home bases for him during his career at EAI. Jim retired from EAI, and moved to Fort Lauderdale where he worked for Comcast as Customer Service technical assistance. Interacting with different customers every day and helping them troubleshoot their issue was a real joy to him. Jim had a big heart and he loved his family more than anything. You could always count on a big hug and smile from him. He had a passion for service too. He volunteered his time on the phone bank for the Suicide hotline and spent several years working with the Blind Veterans Administration assisting Vets getting the help they needed. He loved calling and chatting with the veterans.
