James (Jim) Maxwell McCurley Jr. went to heaven on July 25, 2025 at age 93 in Vero Beach, Florida. James was born in Crosby, Mississippi on May 31, 1932 to J.M. McCurley Sr. And Ysobel Zook McCurley. He was raised in Port Arthur, Texas and attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Industrial Education. Jim served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. He married Carole Eversole McCurley in 1967.

Jim exercised daily and was an avid golfer. He loved driving and travelling with his wife Carole before her passing. His motto was "don't worry about anything!" He enjoyed buying, selling and inspecting real estate. Jim was an active Fit Partner with Kates Faith and Fitness, Inc.

James is survived by nephew Henry Kleespies of Southlake, Texas; niece Karen Kleespies Stone of Dallas, Texas; caregiver and long-time family friend Kate Williams; and numerous other friends and family members. James was predeceased by his son James Clark McCurley; his beautiful wife of 50 years , Carole Eversole McCurley; and sister Rubie Joyce McCurley Kleespies.

A celebration of Jim's full and long life will be held in Vero Beach, Florida at a later date.
