James Robert McGinley went to be with the Lord September 26, 2013. He was born Aug. 15, 1925, to Patrick and Margaret McGinley in Globe, Ariz. He graduated from Flagstaff High School and the University of Texas where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served as an Ensign in both the Navy and US Naval Reserve. He worked in sales and management for Joslyn Manufacturing and Supply Company before starting his own business, James R. McGinley Sales Company. He was married to his loving wife, Elaine A. McGinley on Nov. 28, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The McGinley family moved to Prairie Village, Kan., in 1965. They were members of Cure of Ars Catholic Parish in Leawood, Kan. Jim enjoyed volunteering and ushering every week at Sunday 12 p.m. Mass and he was involved in the Knights of Columbus and Serra Club. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and recently great grandfather. He enjoyed entertaining, grilling on the patio, and socializing with friends and family, where he was the "Official Photographer." Jim lost his loving wife of 56 years, Elaine, in 2010, and is survived by his sons, Pat and Mike, Mike's wife Mary, his sister, Pat Anderson of Houston, Texas, his granddaughters, Melissa Smilor and husband Matt, Melanie Dickerson and husband Eddie, and great granddaughter, Natalie Elaine Smilor. Jim's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Sweet Life and Heartland Hospice. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Cure of Ars Parish, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Cure of Ars Catholic Parish.
