I was saddened to learn last week from a mutual friend of Jim's passing. Although our encounters were infrequent during the last 50-years, as I have lived in other parts of the country, I retain wonderful memories of Jim. We shared a 4th/5th grade classroom at Sibley school in 1958/59 and became even better acquainted during Junior/Senior High at Fort Osage. I remember Jim best however from our daily conversations on the after school bus ride home following athletic practices. Jim and I were among the last students off so we had an unencumbered 20-minutes to joke around and cover numerous topics. I found him a great guy and I was always keen to call him my friend. My most sincere condolences to you, Becky, and your family during this sad time. Herb Hugill

Dear Becky and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. Although I did not meet your husband, you have always spoken so warmly about Jim. We are so very sorry for your loss. If there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to call.
With sincere sympathy,

Jim was a very special person and always looked forward to him coming in the office. He was a ray of sunshine. He always had a few stories about his family and their escapades. He could find a morel long before and after mushroom season. He always kept a dried mushroom on the dash of his truck just to aggravate people who couldn“t find a mushroom if they bumped their toe on one.
My favorite story is about loading pumpkins into the truck. He was throwing them up to a young man who was supposed to catch it. I guess someone distracted the young man just as Jim let go of the pumpkin. Well he had to make a trip to the ER. To Becky and children I am sorry for your loss but know God has his arms opened wide and a big smile on his face thinking of the stories true or not that he will hear. God bless.
