Memorial services for Mr. Barry Gordon McMillin, 75, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Necessary officiating. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Mr. Barry Gordon McMillin was born February 24, 1950, in Jonesville, Louisiana. He passed this life October 10, 2025, in Carthage, Texas. Barry was one of four children born to the marriage of Edith Ivey and Mike McMillin. He was raised and schooled in Louisiana graduating from Block High School with the class of 1969. He served as Class President, lettered all four years in football, baseball and basketball. He coached Little League for boys and girls for 15 years. He owned and operated multiple businesses prior to moving to Texas from Jena, Louisiana. Barry worked for Pierce Construction before owning his own trucks as McMillin Trucking, working in oilfield construction. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Edith; siblings, Jimmy McMillin, Kathy Coon; and his son, Barry Gordon McMillin Jr.
Mr. McMillin is survived by his loving wife, Jo Courtney McMillin of Carthage; sons, Daniel McMillin of Monroe, LA; sister, Kay McMillin Ewing and husband Mike of Hattiesburg, MS; brother-in-law, Lamar Coon of Carthage; sister-in-law Sissy McMillin of Monterey, LA; grandchildren, Christopher McMillin of Carthage and Christian McMillin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
