James Francis McTaggart, 83, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 25, 2024 in Charlotte. He was born on April 13, 1940 in Urbana, the son of Lawrence J. and Helen Marie (Corbett) McTaggart. He married Connie Matthews at Christ the King Cathedral in Atlanta, GA on September 18, 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Connie McTaggart of Charlotte, NC; thirteen siblings, William McTaggart of Watseka, Virginia Carr of Los Gatos, CA, Lawrence (Mary) McTaggart Jr of Gilman, Jane McTaggart of Watseka, Paul (Linda) McTaggart of Watseka, Mary (Mike) Walsh of Lincoln, NE, Teresa (John) Braden of Watseka, Margaret Feller of Oakwood, Diane (John) McShane of Lincoln, IL, Terry (Gwen) McTaggart of Watseka, Patrick McTaggart of Watseka, Richard (Kathy) McTaggart of Watseka, and Carol (Tom) Rechtiene of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in passing by two brothers, Charles McTaggart and Dennis McTaggart; and two brother in laws, Ernest Carr and Randy Feller.
Jim's life was centered around family and his Catholic faith. He was a founding member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Roswell, GA. Jim was president of the Serra Club, which supported priestly vocations. He was a church usher and member of Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. Mr. McTaggart volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA in the cardiac catheter lab. James attended the University of Illinois where he was in Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and later graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a degree in agriculture. Jim worked internationally for Central Soya designing and building ventilation systems for hatcheries. He was the owner and operator of Design-Aire in Georgia.
A memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. Fr. Daniel McShane will officiate. A burial of cremains will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka immediately following.
A memorial visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to St. Edmund Catholic Church.

I truly enjoyed seeing Jim (and Connie) at our WCHS Class of 1958 Reunions. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. My prayers go out to all of them.
