James Peter Mellon of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on September 21, 2025. Born on November 19, 1937, in Lake City, Indiana, James lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet strength.

James was a man defined by his deep commitment to his family and his work in the Gas and Light Industry. He spent countless hours enriching the lives of those around him with his wisdom and infectious smile. Family gatherings were the highlight of his life, bringing him immense joy and fulfilling what he believed was his greatest legacy: love and unity among his loved ones.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mellon and Marie Meiner Mellon, James leaves behind a devoted wife, Susan Mellon, as well as his loving family who feel blessed to have shared in his journey. His influence and spirit will live on through them, inspiring future generations with the same kindness and integrity that defined his life.

James's journey wasn't marked by grand accolades but by the quiet, steady presence he had in the lives of his friends and family. The light he shone on those around him will continue to burn bright, guiding them with memories full of laughter, humility, and unwavering support.

In keeping with his wishes and the simple grace by which he lived, no formal services are planned at this time. Instead, friends and family are encouraged to celebrate James's life by embracing their loved ones and cherishing every moment together.

James Peter Mellon, a man of warmth, dedication, and enduring love, will be missed but never forgotten.
