James "Ricky" Richard Miller, age 67, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 29,
2025.

Born on October 30, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Cecil Miller and Virginia Thomas
Miller, Ricky was a hardworking laborer who lived life with quiet dedication and a deep love for
the simple things that brought him joy.

Ricky was a devoted fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals and had a lifelong admiration
for NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed spending time at the casino and playing bingo,
but perhaps more than anything, he cherished the freedom of riding his bicycle-his chosen way
to get around in his cherished neighborhood of Portland and a reflection of his independent spirit.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, the love of his life Tina Plaiss, and his faithful
Jack Russell dog, Railroad.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Eric Plaiss (Kim); sisters, Cecilia Miller (Geneva
Stewart) and Leva Nowlin; and grandchildren, Little Eric Plaiss and C.J. Plaiss. He is also
survived by his nieces and nephews: Karen White, William Stewart, Bradley Stewart, Kenneth
Stewart, Patrick Nowlin, David Nowlin, Ashley Nowlin, William Nowlin, and Jenna Tipton,
along with many more extended family members, cousins, Patty Yense-Woosley (Mike), Melissa
Collins and Matthew Woosley and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on
Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Legacy
Schoppenhorst Chapel Funeral Home, located at 1832 West Market Street, Louisville, KY
40203.

A funeral service will take place at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 3, at the funeral home,
with burial to follow at St. Stephens Cemetery.
