"Stan" James Stanley Mitchell, 62, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by his loved ones. We love you here so much and we will miss you greatly.
A Family Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, from 3:30 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Bishop Funeral Service & Crematory, McAlester, Oklahoma.
Stan was born to Richard and Zella Mitchell on October 26, 1962 in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Stan grew up in a tight-knit community of Kiowa. He graduated from McAlester High School and resided in McAlester, Oklahoma. Stan ventured into the world of sales, where he became a respected figure in the electrical business. His hands, however, were never far from the engines and machinery he loved. A skilled mechanic and contractor, Stan dedicated countless hours to building engines and fixing cars, generously offering his expertise to those in need around his community.
In his personal life, Stan was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Debra Leslie. He was a car enthusiast, a drummer, a foodie, a loving Dad and son. Stan has always been remembered as a wonderful husband, step-dad, pawpaw, a peeps, brother, an uncle, and best friend to Steve Simpson. Stan was known for his kindness and happiness and he had the best laugh of all. He loved music and his kids; but he loved his grandkids the most. He loved M*A*S*H. He loved watching movies and any car show he could find. He was Loud and OU PROUD.
Stan is preceded in death by his parents Richard & Zella Mitchell and brother-in-law John Kuehner.
Stan leaves behind his wife Debi Mitchell of the home; his four daughters, Hailey Mitchell and husband, Johnathan Clark of McAlester, Leah Mitchell of Oklahoma City, Rashelle Foale and husband, Kenneth of Moore, and Ashton Malone and husband, Sam of McAlester; his amazing ten 10 grandchildren; his one wonderful great-grandchild; He also leaves behind his sisters, Rickie Kuehner and Vickie Craig; his brothers-in-law, Derek Leslie and Tommie Craig both of McAlester.
Stan will be missed but not forgotten.
