James Edward Monroe James Edward Monroe was born May 22, 1950 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late Willie Monroe and Eva Irene Baker Pearson Monroe. He departed this life on August 7, 2025 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 75 Years, 2 Months, 16 Days.
James was united in marriage to Vickie Gean Bratton on September 29, 1973, sharing a bond that reflected love and companionship. He dedicated many years to General Electric, retiring in 2005. An outdoorsman at heart, James found joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered. His presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Monroe of Bethel Springs, TN; a son, Michael Monroe of Bethel Springs, TN; a sister, Karen Gant; six brothers: John Wayne Monroe, Willie Hugh Monroe and wife Debbie, Danny Eugene Monroe and wife Lavonne, Dale Monroe, Lawrence Monroe, Lynn Pearson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Monroe was preceded in death by three sisters: Faye Miller, Barbara Jean Pearson Teet, Geraldine Monroe West; and two brothers, Willie Harris Monroe and Bill Pearson.
A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Shackelford Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of James Edward Monroe.
