James Moore II Obituary
James Albert Moore II passed away on December 28, 2023. He was 49 years old. Jamie, as he was known, was born April 15, 1974 in Danville, Illinois. He moved to South Bend, Indiana in 2005 and faithfully worked as a draftsman for StresCore.
Jamie's memory will be forever cherished by his parents, James Albert and Janice Jo (Edwards) Moore; fiancée, Laura Lynn Brandenburg; her children, Axel and Lia; sister, Jessica Holden; niece, Tatum Holden; nephews, Vann and Booker Holden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jamie had an infectious smile and eyes that twinkled blue. He was kind, slow to anger always eager to make and help a friend. He was a true family man who loved spending time with his family in Colorado giving BIG bear hugs to his mom, sister, niece, and nephews.
He cherished spending time with the love of his life Laura and their kitties: Bo, Murray, and Frankie. They met in 2017 through Laura's meetup.com group "I want to do that too, just not alone!" Their friendship grew into a lifelong commitment they were planning to celebrate with a wedding on June 22, 2024. Friends will remember their coordinated outfits, halloween costumes, and how they delighted in being together.
Jamie had a soft spot for furry friends, volunteered at Pet Refuge, and understandably gave himself the nickname "Cat Whisperer". Jamie enjoyed nature, cycling, downhill skiing, trap shooting, playing volleyball, exploring his faith, reading, playing board games, working on cars, and riding motorcycles. He was a collector of baseball hats and t-shirts from his travels with his loved ones. Jamie loved his football team, GO MICHIGAN WOLVERINES!
Jamie leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him and he will be forever missed and deeply loved.
Memorial contributions can be made to Granger Community Church at www.grangerchurch.com or Pet Refuge at www.petrefuge.com.
A private memorial service was held for Jamie. Burial took place in Illinois.

Jamie and I had met at a retreat and started getting together weekly for coffee. We would get into a conversation while our coffee got cold before our conversation did. One of us would look at our watch and see that 3-4 hours had passed, at which point we realized the place was about to close! I will never forget what it was like to sit across the table from that kind and gentle soul of his.

I am very sad to know we lost a member of our volunteer family at Pet Refuge. As a Friday evening cat department cleaner, I never knew James personally, but we are all the same. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
