James Chris Moore, 75, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, surrounded by his family. Chris was born in Smithfield on January 28, 1949, to the late James David Moore and Evelyn Moore McClellan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Mansey Moore. Chris graduated from North Johnston High School and attended Barber College in Durham, NC. Following college, he joined the Army and served for two years, one of which he spent in Vietnam. Chris, along with the NC VVI Veterans, helped with the Vietnam statue that is now on the Raleigh Capitol grounds. He was instrumental in placing a memorial bench in front of the statue. Chris was the co-owner of the Barbershop Professionals in Raleigh, NC.
Chris is survived by his wife, Barbara Lynn Moore; daughter, Crystal Lynn Corbett and husband Ken Corbett; grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Corbett and Abigail Marie Corbett; and sisters, Jeanne Evans and husband Bobby Evans, and Kathy Peedin and husband Al Peedin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm.
