James Michael Moran, 76, of Clarks Green, died Monday, in Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton.
Born September 30, 1949 in Portland, ME, Jim was the son of the late James Frederick and Eleanor (Fahey) Moran.
Jim earned his master’s degree in history from SUNY at Oneota and briefly worked as a teacher. Jim went back to SUNY Stoneybrook where he earned a degree in Physical Therapy and worked as a Physical Therapist with Community Medical Center and Mountain View Care Center. Jim was a social member of the VFW Abington Memorial Post 7069.
Jim had a passion for running and competed in many events such as the Steamtown Marathon, Green Ridge Mile, Boston Marathon, New York Marathon, Philadelphia Half, etc., later becoming an officiant, organizer and medic at many of the events. He enjoyed music, often attending area concerts with live bands, and watching sports of all kinds, especially football and going to SWB Penguins games.
Survivors include his former wife, Lynne Confer of Clarks Summit, son, James Robert Moran of Clarks Summit, daughter, Kelly Moran of Olyphant, brother, John Moran and wife Jan of Herndon, VA, sister, Ellen "Agnew" Moran of Reston, VA, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10am at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. Interment to follow at Abington Hills Cemetery, S. Abington Twp. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 9-10am at the church.
