Eugene “Gene” J. Herman, 95, passed away peacefully, on November 23, 2025 at Regional Hospital. His devoted wife of 60 years is Janice. He was born August 18, 1930 in Scranton and was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Hennigan) Herman. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Wright Jr. College, Chicago, IL.
Gene served in the Army Artillery. He was a programmer for IBM in Chicago, where he met and married Janice. They moved to Scranton and Gene then worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier for over 25 years. Gene was a member of Our Lady of Snows Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose. Gene was an avid sports enthusiast and his favorite moments were time spent with family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Also surviving a loving daughter Sharon, a darling granddaughter Audrey, a nephew, William McLane, Jr. and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; a sister Grace (Herman) McLane; three brothers, John, Joseph and Louie Herman.
Arrangements and services are private at the convenience of the family.
