James Walter "Jake" Morris
December 11, 1958 – May 25, 2025
James Walter "Jake" Morris, 66 of Tylertown, MS passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Thursday, December 11, 1958 in Tylertown, MS to the late Otis Morris, Sr. and Ophelia Etheridge Morris. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Morris; and sister, Geneva Mitchell; and brother Jerry Morris, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 12 noon at Mesa Baptist Church, 12 Mesa Walkers Bridge Rd. Tylertown, MS 39667; with Brother Mike Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Rushing Cemetery in Tylertown, MS. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jake was a man of many talents and traits. He used his skills over the years at Jeff Rushing's Diesel, Walthall County 5th District, Walthall County Sheriff Office; offshore, and as volunteer firefighter for 20 years. But his favorite pastime was riding on the lawnmower making any yard look its best.
Survivors include his wife, Patti Stein Morris; sons, Josh Morris, Jason Morris, and Jacob Morris; step-sons, Joey Pigott, Chris Blackwell (Julie), and David Blackwell (Victoria); step-daughter, Tiffany Jones; foster children Donald Ray Morris and Braden Alton Morris; grandchildren, Brodie Morris, Kip Blackwell, Aubrey Blackwell, Hudson Blackwell, Kendell Blackwell, Carson Blackwell, Conner Putfark, Dominic Truxillo, Adrienne Truxillo, and Kayden Bertholot; brothers, Otis Morris, Jr. (Karen), Larry Morris, Eugene Morris (Karen), and.; sisters, Mary Polk, Ann Thornhill (Ronnie); ex wife Lisa Greer; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be Brody Burnthorn, Jeremiah Morris, Aaron Rushing, Bruce Stein, Thomas Dozier, and Jerry Morris, Jr..
Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Morris, Jason Morris, and Jacob Morris.
